Albert works is a pre-war light industrial building in Sheffield that had been dilapidated for many years. Our client, Devonshire Green, was renovating this for an incoming marketing tenant Jaywing. We were asked to provide consultancy services to interface between our client and the tenant.
The design brief was to retain and enhance the character of the existing building, yet provide a functional space. The design included exposed services and shipping containers used for breakout space. Cartwright Pickard architects work in conjunction with us and 93ft (designers) to formulate the end produce.
Our design used gas boilers and bespoke lighting, with exposed ventilation ductwork. The heating system is also capable of being connected to the Sheffield district heating system in the future.
The project won a RIBA award, and continues to win additional accolades as well as setting the benchmark for similar projects in the area.
